Nacao Zumbi - 'Futura'

Trama releases always go straight to the top of the pile when they arrive, they are different class and so are Nacao Zumbi. From Recife these mighty pioneers of mangue beats rock the joint but not in any safe way, they go out on a limb for a melange of Afro-Brazilian bassed out drum inspired hip hop that punk rocks it up. This is their sixth album and the third since former leader Chico Science died in 1997 and they just seem to get better and better, they don't so much feel the force as become it. My pick is 'Memorando' a ciranda/afro beat based joy but why pick one when there's 12? Top notch. Graham Radley
