Radio

WorldBeatUK was a two hour, live, world music radio show presented by the editor of WorldMusic.co.uk, Glyn Phillips, and was transmitted online every Wednesday (7-9pm UK time)* via Rhubarb Radio  (www.rhubarbradio.com) up until Wednesday 2nd November 2011.

However, sometime around 3rd or 4th November 2011 it 'appears' that someone has broken into or somehow entered the Rhubarb Radio Studio and has removed a large amount of essential equipment.  In short, the station is unable to broadcast at all.  You will no longer be able to hear WorldBeatUK on Rhubarb Radio or access any old WorldBeatUK programmes via Rhubarb Radio.  We (WorldMusic.co.uk) are working on getting any old shows we have available put up on a separate website outlet.  Watch this space for further news.

NB: WorldBeatUK is NO LONGER on Rhubarb Radio!

However, recently the owners of WorldMusic.co.uk bought the domain name  www.WorldMusicRadio.com in order to launch their own world music radio station with an initial launch date set for Spring 2012.  Due to the Rhubarb Radio situation and WorldBeatUK audience demand we are working fast to bring the launch date forward.

So watch this space and we will try and get a basic station up very quickly.  If you are interested in having any music featured or have any ideas regarding the launch contact us at info@worldmusic.co.uk.

[Please note that Rhubarb Radio is NOT owned by, or affiliated to, WorldMusic.co.uk or any of our other World Music enterprises. It is an independent radio station providing all kinds of radio coverage that we do not have any input into.  Only the show WorldBeatUK was managed by us, Rhubarb Radio being the host provider.]

During its 9 months on Rhubarb, WorldBeatUK offered two hours a week of the best world music from all over the globe as I took you on a musical journey around the planet, sharing everything from the newest releases to time-weathered classics, from the dustiest originals to the freshest remixes.

We hope to come back as soon as possible, not just with the flaghip WorldBeatUK show but much more besides.

* NB Remember to factor the difference between UK time and where you live (just Google "time zone" to see converters).

The UK is now (30/10/11) back on Greenwich Mean Time [GMT]

UK time is generally the same as Portugal, Ireland, Iceland and most of West Africa (depending on whether they change their clocks for Summer);

The majority of Europe is on UK+1, so should be 8-10pm over there;

East Europe & Turkey is UK+2 (9-11pm) and so on.

US Eastern Seaboard is about 5-6 hours behind us, UK-5/6 (so approx 2-4pm).

But please check - it all depends on your country's use of Daylight Saving rules!
